Pre-requisites It is advisable that delegates are regular users of one or more Windows programs, ideally Excel or Word

Objectives 

This Microsoft Project course can be tailored to your requirements and therefore can be aimed at Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced users.  The full course (taking beginners through to advanced topics) is 5 days and will enable delegates to become competent with the full capabilities of the tool.  Beginner and Intermediate variants of the course are available and can be any duration from 1 day upwards.

• Review – A brief review of the development of a project plan up to the creation of an agreed baseline

 • Project tracking – Working with baselines and interim plans; entering actual times, work and costs; using views that focus on tracking 

• Rescheduling – Loading changes and slippage into a project; techniques for resolving problems which occur when a task slips; how Project handles scheduling problems

 • Communicating progress – Formatting, printing and reporting project progress; customising Project’s reports and views to show slippage

 • Other monitoring features in Project – Status date indicators; progress lines; earned value reporting; useful fields for tracking and rescheduling 

• An introduction to multiple-project management – Container projects and resource pools

• Building project schedules – a brief review – Tasks, headings, dependencies, durations, calendars, constraints, baselines, tracking and basic reporting, with advanced usage hints and tips 

• Advanced facilities in Project – Task schedule types; progress lines; split tasks; task usage view; work contours; resource availability; variable cost features; earned value analysis 

• Multiple project handling – Managing concurrent projects; resource pools; inter-project links

 • Advanced reporting – Sending data to Excel and Visio for graphical reporting
